Geoffrey Aldred is a carver, letter-cutter and teacher working in stone.He worked for twenty years in his Lewes workshop designing and making garden ornament, (fountains, seats, sundials, urns), architectural and ecclesiastical carving and letter cutting. His work was selected for the Memorials by Artists organisation from its inception. Appropriateness of design and truth to materials are the basis of his practice, complemented by a sensitive, creative negotiation with clients. His lettering and carving embrace classical arrangements and improvisation in freer form often within three-dimensional stone objects.
