My father worked from home as a sculptor, he had been taught lettering and carving in stone and wood by Eric Gill and as a child I watched and helped him.

After spending a few years at art school learning life drawing and modelling, I worked for several sculptors and letter cutters, including James Sutton and Ralph Beyer. Since setting up on my own, I have created many churchyard memorials, worked on church sculpture and lettering and public monuments all over the UK.

I have always had a particular interest in allowing the power and beauty of stone and wood to speak through my designs, so hand carving has always been essential to me for that reason.

My lettering style is modelled on what I saw of my father's work as a child and over the years it has evolved through experimentation and many influences, especially that of Ralph Beyer, but remains esentially a classical Roman.
