Stuart McGrath trained in classical and architectural stone carving in London and Italy before specializing in the carving of memorial stones. He served his apprenticeship under many skilled Master Craftsmen.
All of his stonecutting is carried out using traditional methods and techniques. Using client input he has worked on many public and private commissions ranging from small plaques through to large monuments and buildings in all aspects of design, planning, implementation and carving. Fine hand drawn and carved lettering with heraldry and/or ornament detail for opening/dedication and commemorative and memorial plaques are a specialty.
He has won many awards for his work both in Ireland and the U.K. Stuart has worked on the Lord Mayors of London monument and the Haberdashers Company Coat of Arms among many other interesting projects.
-Work awarded first prize in the Royal Dublin Society Craft Competition stone & wood carving category.
-Chosen for third year running to exhibit work at 'The Sculpture in Context Exhibition' at the 'National Botanical Gardens, Glasnevin.
-Commissioned to design & carve commemorative stones for the United Nations & ATD Fourth World Charity to commemorate World Poverty Day
