A drawing and estimate

After initial discussions the artist will send a drawing, to scale or as a fully detailed sketch of your memorial, together with an estimate. This is a working drawing: changes are still possible.

Carving the Stone

Once the final design is decided on permission for it must be granted from the church or cemetery authorities. The stone can be ordered. It can take time for a quarry to deliver a stone of good quality. Then the carver can complete the work.

Fixing the Stone in place

The lettercutter will usually bring and install the memorial in person. Many people organise a gathering for a first viewing of the newly carved stone.
