First think hard about what you might want

Only you can know what feels right. A memorial that stands for your memory of a person, what you feel about a person, or is like a gift to a person and is part of a place.

Look at the choices

Headstone. Cremation tablet or Wall plaque. Ledger (flat) stone. Garden memorial. Stone, wood, other material. Carving or ornament. Style of lettering. Words and dates or names and years. If no words suggest themselves a visual symbol may say more. At this stage even vague ideas are enough to work on.

Find someone to make it

Someone who will listen to your ideas, develop them, advise on types of stone or slate, whose work you like the look of, who lives nearby or somewhere you are prepared to visit in his or her workshop. Let Memorials by Artists guide you or choose from the Directory of Artists
