Memorials by Artists is a unique organisation that brings together fine lettering artists with those wishing to commission beautiful lettered works for churchyard, cemetery, public space and the garden.
- Individual memorials in churchyards cemeteries and private spaces
- Garden memorials
- Large public memorials
- Architectural lettering
From our base in rural Suffolk, Memorials by Artists has established a working relationship with over seventy fine lettercarver/designers and has been responsible for the placing of over 3,000 unique and individual memorials across the British Isles and beyond.
Memorials by Artists has become expert at matching a client with an artist and at overseeing the various stages of the commission, including the problems that sometimes arise with churchyard and cemetery regulations.
Memorials by Artists began from a personal search for a memorial to a young woman who died by suicide.
Our priority has always been the needs of the bereaved, and the belief that a memorial and the process of commissioning it can result in something of lasting meaning - as well as adding something beautifully made to the environment.
In 1991 Memorials by Artists was awarded a National Arts Collection Fund Award for An Outstanding Contribution to the Visual Arts.
Memorials by Artists is wholly owned by The Memorial Arts Charity, which is dedicated to ensuring that Britain’s long tradition of lettercarving and memorial art continues to flourish. The Charity runs lettercarving workshops and an Apprenticeship Scheme and is founding the first national collection of contemporary memorial art - The Art & Memory Collection
